ZAGATO

ZAGATO

Zagat Hugo (Ugo Zagato) founded his Bodybuilding-ing shop in 1919 in Milan. By the end of the 20-ies. became one of the most famous designersand manufacturers of bodies for sports cars. Since then, the Zagato is one of the top body builders in Italy. At its head is always representative of theZagat family. Northern Italy has long been famous for its tradition ofmanufacturing bodies for the various crews, so when Hugo decided to open a business, then chose the bodywork. Prior to that he studied in Germany, during World War II he worked on aircraft building plant Pomilio («have mercy").
The firm Zagato has long manufactured the lightweight, streamlined and original car bodies. During the First World War, Hugo worked at Zagat aircraft building plant, where used the fuselage skin of the light metals. They fit perfectly and sports cars
Hugo soon became known in Milan, thanks to its lightweight and sleek bodywork Alfa Romeo («Alfa Romeo"), which won in the various races. In 30-ies. has to fulfill the orders of PAT (FIAT). During the Second World War destroyed his factory Aviation allies. In 1946 he built new premises on the northern outskirts of Milan.
In 50-60s. Body of Zagato cars appeared on many firms, particularly in the FIAT 8V, Coupe Abarth («Abarth»), Alfa Romeo Guilietta SV («Alfa Romeo Giulietta SV»), Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato («Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagat »), Lancia Flamiriia (« Lancia Flaminia ") and the Lancia Fulvia Coupe (« Lancia Fulvia Coupe "). The company has worked with such companies as Ferrari («Ferrari»), Lamborghini («Lamborghini»), Maserati («Maserati"), as well as lesser-known manufacturers.
Before his death, Hugo Zagat company moved to a new factory (1968). In the 70's. she passed their position. Only in the next decade, she was able to catch up, creating an Aston Martin Vantage Zagato («Aston Martin Ventidzh Zagat"). Then half the shares acquired through their representatives, the company Aston Martin.
At the end of the XX century, the company created the cars, some of which have been criticized professionals. However, they are attracted to certain customers. For Aston Martin added the Maserati Biturbo Spyder («Maserati biturbo Spider"), to the Alfa Romeo SZ car exhibition a couple of Nissan 300ZX («Nissan"). But the real breakthrough was the Hyena Coupe («Hyena Coupe"). In 1998 the company created a model of Lamborghini P147, which was considered the successor to Diablo («Diablo").
Zagato Hyena («Zagat Hyena"), 1992-1993
The revival of body builder Zagato, fought in the 80s. for survival, was held in January 1992 when she presented at the Brussels Motor Show, the new coupe Hyena. This machine had a great chassis and beautiful body. The company said that it would like itself to issue and sell this model, and not to transfer her rights to another manufacturer, which would use its chassis. There was talk about making 60, 70 or even 90 copies.
If the price Hyena was moderate, it could be promising, as was established on the basis of all-wheel drive Lancia Delta HF Integrale («Lancia Delta HF Integral"), for many years dominated the World Rally Championship. The exhibition received a copy of Hyena 2-seater aluminum body.

Designer Marco Pedrachini (Marco Pedracini) sought to make Hyena is well recognized. Lightweight and streamlined, it had a significantly betterperformance than conventional Delta HF Integrale
Well-equipped chassis Lancia had ABS, rally wheels and special tires.Bumpers, sills and door panels Hyena body were made of the materialKevlar («Kevlar"). It has reduced its own weight of 200 kg.
The company named its new Zagato functional and innovative. For her, used the front facing of the Lancia and wide wheel arches, with almost nodevices that reduce aerodynamic drag, and in front of the body was a largenumber of holes for the passage of air into the engine compartment.
In mid 1992 the company gave the go-ahead to release this strange car, butcorporate policy prevented the supply of components models Integrale. The project died after only 26 copies produced Hyena.
The plan was to release 75 cars Hyena
